    Frequently Asked Questions

How long from port to Las Canteras?

Only 10 minutes on foot. The port is very central, next to Santa Catalina Park.

Can I go to Maspalomas in a few hours?

It's possible but tight. You need minimum 6 hours of stop (70 min there + 70 min back + time at destination). By taxi it's faster but expensive (€130-160 round trip).

    Are ship excursions worth it?

They tend to be more expensive than going independently. For Las Palmas city it's easy to explore alone. For Roque Nublo or rural areas, a tour (ship or external) is more practical.

Is there free WiFi at the port?

Yes, in the cruise terminal. Also in most Las Canteras cafés.

    What currency is used?

Euro (€). Cards accepted almost everywhere. Bring some cash for markets and small shops.

Is it safe to walk around the city?

Yes, Las Palmas is a very safe city. Tourist areas (port, Las Canteras, Triana, Vegueta) have no issues.

Where to eat quickly and well?

On the Las Canteras terraces or Triana tapas bars. Papas arrugadas with mojo are quick and typical.

    Can I walk to Vegueta?

Yes, it's 3 km (30-40 minutes at a good pace). Alternatively, bus 1 or taxi for €6-8.

Looking for a vacation rental apartment?

Casita Palmera is a licensed vacation rental apartment 50 metres from Las Canteras Beach.
