Colonial streets, cathedral, museums and tapas in the historic heart

Las Canteras, Gran Canaria 5 min read

The Origin of Las Palmas

Vegueta is the founding district of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Juan de Rejón landed here in 1478 to conquer the island. Over 500 years of history are present in every cobblestone street, colonial façade and quiet plaza.

Declared a Historic-Artistic Site in 1973, Vegueta preserves original architecture mixing Spanish, Portuguese and American influences.
