Las Canteras, Gran Canaria 5 min read

Why Las Canteras is Perfect for Families

Las Canteras isn't just one of Spain's best urban beaches, it's also a perfect destination for families with children. The combination of calm waters protected by a natural reef, complete services right on the beach, and a wide range of activities makes this beach the ideal choice for family vacations.

Unlike other tourist beaches, Las Canteras offers the advantage of being in a real city with hospitals, pharmacies, supermarkets, and everything a family might need just minutes away.

Safe Swimming Areas for Kids

Las Canteras beach is 3.2 km long with different zones, each with distinct characteristics for families:

Playa Chica (Central Zone)

The most recommended area for young children. It's protected by La Barra de Las Canteras, a natural rock formation that creates a natural pool with calm waters.

Central Zone (In front of the Auditorium)

Good balance between calm and some movement for older children who want small waves.

La Cícer (South Zone)

NOT recommended for young children. This area has waves and currents, it's where people surf. Only suitable for teenagers who can swim well and under supervision.
